The Challenge
With plans for the launch of Kenvue -- Johnson & Johnson's newly named division of Consumer Health -- for early 2023, J&J's Consumer talent team were working diligently to continue securing the right talent for their large portfolio of consumer brands. As a multinational leader in the industry, J&J has a strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within their workforce. And a diverse workforce begins with the candidates being sourced to fill open reqs. However, since diversity indicators are self-identified and can be tricky to locate from traditional sourcing practices, DEI recruiting efforts must be targeted and specific. J&J's Kenvue talent acquisition team needed a partner that could make a dedicated effort to ensure a slate of diverse candidates, and deliver them quickly.
Partnering with Velocity
Velocity Resource Group has been partnering with Johnson & Johnson across their divisions since as early as 2013. So, it was a no-brainer for the Consumer Health/Kenvue team to engage Velocity when they needed to fill open positions across their portfolio of brands. As is the nature of our process, J&J's team knew Velocity would leave no stone left unturned to provide as many qualified candidates as possible. We’ve developed and an extensive sourcing tech stack, key indicators and a proprietary strategy to reach the targeted candidates for our client's talent needs. When J&J presented us with any DEI workforce goals, we worked to identify not just one Qualified, Available, and Interested candidate, but a pool of QAI candidates to work with.
The Outcome
Throughout 2022, J&J partnered with Velocity on 78 roles to identify QAI candidates and build multiple pipelines of diverse candidates for their Kenvue consumer division. With Velocity's sourcing and engagement efforts, Kenvue was able to secure at least 19 accepted offers, 89% (17) of which were considered diverse candidates for the company's workforce and contributed to DEI goals for the consumer brands. Velocity provided peace of mind for the recruitment teams in knowing that they were getting a third-party opinion and a deep dive into the market to secure the talent they needed.
